Part I - Inquiry
Who may attend Inquiry?
Any Baptized Christian wishing to become a Catholic.
Any Baptized Catholic who has not yet received Confirmation and Holy Communion.
- Any Unbaptized Person wishing to join the church and wishing to prepare to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion.
Also invited to the Inquiry are:
- Non-Catholics who wish to find out more about the beliefs of the Catholic church; for example, a non- Catholic married or engaged to a Catholic who wishes to know more about their spouse's and /or children's religion but has no plans to convert.
What happens after the Inquiry period is over?
Unbaptized persons, Christians wishing to become Catholics and Catholics who were only baptized can continue their preparation for the Easter Vigil celebration of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The first formal step of this preparation will begin in Advent. The sessions will be on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM and will include the 11:00 AM Liturgy.
- To an extent, this will depend upon the individuals in the group.
What if my marriage is not recognized by the Church? What if I were divorced?
- You may still attend the inquiry. You will have a chance to discuss your situation privately with a priest, since each case must be handled on an individual basis. Of course, you may set up an appointment with a priest before you attend the Inquiry. Contact Fr. Matthew J. Pfleger at 732-264-1484.
